Why Sport?

Sport is one of the few activities that bring people together no matter where you are on the globe. Color, race, language, religion, age and gender are all forgotten on the sporting field. Many sports organizations and agencies have long known of the benefit of being involved in sport and serving sports people as a way to connect with their cultures as well as to build a bridge of friendship and harmony.

Church Boys United was born to carry the Christian mandate and values. This page is combine information of the Churches Network Sports Ministry and the Church Boys United FC. We hope you would enjoy it.

Purposes of the Church Boys United are:

  • partnering with other organization to help develop sporting activities,
  • bring out potential players that can contribute to the nation,
  • develop and conserve educational, linguistics, religious and cultural heritage,
  • participate and organize various types of sport events to help fulfill national sports theme: 'Vision 2020-Sports for National Pride and Healthy Citizen', and
  • establish football academy.

Definition of Sport and it's advantage?

The meaning of Sport is: 'a game, competition or activity needing physical effort and skill that is played or done according to rules, for enjoyment and/or as a job'. -Dictionary Cambridge Online.

Advantage: keeps a person active and in shape, learn more things (like teamwork and sportsmanship), meet new people, and helps a person see other things they are good at.

Why do we adopt sport for outreach?

We don't just 'play' a game; we 'work' in a game. See the difference? Most sports are team game. Sport is a relationship. Churches are relationship centered. In this environment, the church has a unique opportunity to influence people through organized sports. Can you play a game in the church? No. Can you bring church to a pitch (or court)? Yes. Because church is not a building, its community is. God do not ignore athletes, God loves athletes. It is God who gives strengths to play. We believe that we can go to all the world and preach the gospel of the Kingdom through sports too. That's why we adopt sport.

So we registered a Club

We saw emerging Christian players across Nepal. We felt the need to give them an opportunity in standard tournaments where they can perform their skill and glorify God. We believe that Christian players can contribute to the nation's sport if they receive chance. We would like to represent a Christian team in the national football league. So we registered a club.

The Impact of the Sports Ministry

Unlike any other evangelistic mediums, sport ministry also can lead many young players to the church if used properly. Sports play reveals who you genuinely are. Ask Santa or Sanjay of Church Boys United what sports ministry has done to their life, they happily explain you. "We're invited by Brother Reuben to play in his team, he shared us about accepting Jesus, and we did not know anything about Jesus. But as we gradually began to read bible, pray and attend Church services, then we come to know that Jesus Christ is the only person in the world which everyone should accept, which we did" exclaims Santa Shrestha. "It is really fun to play and accept Jesus as our personal Lord and savior" adds Sanjay Silpakar, Goalie in the Church Boys United. If you would like to read exciting testimonies of our players who accepted Jesus through sports ministry, please log on to www.churchboys.org and click on athletes testimony.

Serve God through Sport

Just like these two brothers, there is another brother named Bikas who accepted Jesus while playing the football. He is now Co-Pastor of the Balkumari Church. Like Bikas, Santa and Sanjay tells that they are willing to do God's work and go anywhere the Lord sends them. Here is a simple method, gather players-tell them about Jesus-if they accepts Jesus as their personal Lord and savior-take them to disciple class-and they will gather other players, and the method goes on and on. Serve God through Sport. It is possible to him that believes.

Organize games in your area

Are you fond of the games? Are you a player? Are you the one among the organizer? Would you like to play a coordinator role? Are you willing to organize games in your area? Then you can write to us. We will provide the help you need. There are some minor conditions that you should agree with us. Conditions such as you should be willing to give us the time so that we could share something about Jesus to the crowd. We can have better tournaments together.
