Apostolic Gathering

Apostolic Gathering

Sunday, May 24, 2026

In Nepal, most of the Pastors of the indigenous Nepali Churches are self-supported. Local Pastors are always at the front line of the ministry. Most Pastors over the age of 65 are now respectfully called Apostles. Some have left the calling as a Shepherd and gone overseas for a better future, and some have returned to their home to serve the flock. Whatever, the gathering of the Shepherds is important.

We, here in Churches Network, have embraced the culture of the Disciples found in Acts 2:42, where it says: The earliest believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. This daily and weekly rhythm required frequent gatherings of the church's leadership to organize and disciple the growing flock.

An apostolic gathering is a foundational meeting of Christian believers designed to empower the Church, align minisries, and mobilize believers for global evangelism. These gatherings are deeply rooted in the New Testament model, functioning to equip the body of Christ, foster deep spiritual unity, and release fresh revelation and vision. The importance of an apostolic gathering can be summarized across a few key pillars:

1. Equipping and Maturation

The core biblical mandate of apostolic and teaching ministries is to "equip God’s people for works of service".

  • Doctrinal Grounding: Gatherings ground believers in orthodox theology and the "apostles' doctrine".
  • Spiritual Growth: They provide an environment for believers of varying spiritual maturities to learn, share their faith, and grow into the full measure of Christ.

2. Unity and Networked Strength

Apostolic gatherings actively push back against isolation and independent individualism, emphasizing a connected body.

  • Mutual Encouragement: They are a space to fulfill the "one-another" commands (bearing each other's burdens, praying together, and encouraging one another in faith).
  • Connected Churches: Rather than operating as isolated entities, these gatherings foster a networked family atmosphere where churches and leaders collaborate and share resources.

3. Mission and Outreach

Rather than focusing solely on internal needs, apostolic gatherings serve as a catalyst for launching the gospel into new territories.

  • The Great Commission: They keep the church focused on evangelism, discipleship, and bringing the "good tidings" to those who have not yet encountered the faith.
  • Kingdom Advancement: These meetings help pioneer new ministry structures and initiate kingdom breakthroughs.

4. Spiritual Alignment and Empowerment

Apostolic assemblies often focus heavily on the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's power.

  • Encounter and Refreshing: Believers often experience spiritual awakening, destines are realigned, and minds are rejuvenated.
  • Demonstration of Power: They are marked by a focus on the revelatory word, healing, and perseverance in carrying out divine assignments.
